Despite being in a relationship with her guardian angel, (In theory; he's not very angelic.) Patch, Nora Grey's life is far from perfect. After getting cryptic hints and messages about her father's death, she becomes increasingly obsessed with his disapperance, determined to unearth secrets burried by her father's killer. In the meantime, she must also deal with the fact that Patch is becoming increasingly distant and is spending a disturbing amount of time with Marcie Milar, Nora's tormentor since childhood. After a messy breakup with Patch, Nora, although brokenhearted and bitter, is more determined then ever to learn the secrets her father left behind - with the help of Vee, of course.
If that wasn't enough, an old childhood friend, Scott Parnell, is back in town and has secrets of his own. But in order to get what she so badly wants, Nora might just need his help - and Patch's too, although she has no desire to see him ever again.
The trap is set, and Nora has taken the bait. But will she be able to find the wolf in sheep's clothing before it's to late?
Before reading: opptomistic, hopeful, maybe a bit eager.
After reading: 💔
There are no words for this. Well, there are. Just not ones that are really appropriate for a public blog. At least the cover wasn't as bad this time around. No shirtless guys with wierd haircuts, no armpit hair, no blood. But it's not much better. I was hoping this book would be better than the first book in the series, but I was let down the moment I started reading. I saw potential, but it wasn't used at all. The story line was choppy and the plot was really more of an afterthought than anything else. Nora has gone from a silly, naive small-town girl to a raving, crazed stalker. I felt like Patch was really developing in the first book and he has taken ten steps backward. Vee is a bit more believeable, but not by much. Speaking of Vee, when the author starts making Vee Sky look sane, you know something isn't right. And Nora's accusations and distrust of pretty much everybody drove me insane! The hurtfull things the characters said to each other was also appalling. Most frustrating of all, many of the conflicts between characters wouldn't be an issue if the characters tried to talk things out instead of yelling at one another! I can only say that at least we learned a bit about Nora and Marcie's past together, but that's it. I'll finish the series, but I don't have high hopes. 1.5/5 stars.
