Alice in Zombieland is about Alice Bell, a teen who's father is obsessed with zombies. That means no going outside after dark, having self-defense classes regularly, and having all your friends sared away by your creepy dad's paranoia. Alice thinks her father is insane. Zombies don't exist, right? Wrong. They do - a lesson she learns the hard way after a terrible car crash. Alice denies what she sees that night. Her father couldn't possibly be telling the truth...
But Alice begins to see the zombies more and more frequently. And then she learns she is not alone - a group of people at her school have also seen the zombies, and, not only that, they hunt them. Alice is determined to become a hunter - never mind that they think she's a weak, soft girl. She is determined to avenge her family. But that means she will have to work with the leader of the hunters, the infamous, gorgeous Cole Holland. And Cole isn't the kind of boy that a father would consider ideal for his only daughter. It also means that Alice will have to balance school, visits from her dead sister, hunting, and living with her grandparents - not an easy feat.
This book was a interesting new take on zombies, and I love the Alice in Wonderland twist. Cole is very complicated and interesting to learn about, while Alice'sbest friend, Kat is very spuky and upbeat - the kind of friend everyone wants to have! I love how determined Alice is and how loyal she is to the people she cares about. The story was very suspenseful, and I couldn't tear myself away from the book! I'll give this one four out of five stars. If there's anything critical to say about the book, it's that I wish there were more Alice in Wonderland moments and things. Maybe talking flowers?
