Nightlife: Perfection

Perfection is the greatest of all diseases. We've all had the need to be perfect, to look in the mirror or a profile of ourselves and find nothing wrong with what we see. Perfection is like...

Okay. Let me put it this way: Imagine perfect is a cake. I know, but bear with me here. Everybody wants a piece of the cake because it's the est tasting cake in the whole flipping world. But it's very expensive to have even a taste, let alone a sliver of that cake, and people don't always realize exactly how much they're paying. And then they realize they can't pay.

That's what perfect is like.

You can't have perfection. It isn't possible. And you know why?

First of all, there is no common definition of perfection. Sure, we can all agree on basic elements of a perfect world, like that nobody should be homeless or go to bed hungry. But everybody has their own ideal, perfect reality and all those different fantasies can't mesh.

And second, if we were all perfect, we would all be exactly the same. Like robots. It's our unique little quirks that make us different from one another, all our little imperfections. I know it sounds cheesey, but it's true.

Dear reader, you don't need to wish for perfection. You're beautiful just the way you are. I don't need to see you or know you to know that.
