Words on The Nine Lives of Chloe King by Liz Braswell

Chloe King is a perfectly normal teen. Until she dies. Or, well, she should have died - all she gets is some scrapes. Then comes the night vision, the claws and the uncanny reflexes. After an attempt on her life, she learns she is part of a race called the Mai, which could only be described as cat people. She quickly learns that, even among her own kind, everything is not what it seems. Someone wants her dead. Chloe must also try to learn the truth about her family, and if she in line to be the next pride leader. Chloe struggles to try and make peace between the Mai and a group called The Order of the Tenth Blade, an organization that wishes to destroy the Mai for something that happened in the far past.

This wasn't really a super "deep" book. Chloe and her adventures was, don't get me wrong, entertaining and enjoyable. However, it lacked the amount of character development and the complex plot that I enjoy in a book. This would be a quick (Well, it is a bit over 700 pages!) read to pass the time. It's fun and light, but I wouldn't say it's that thoughtful or complex. Neverless, I love the idea of cat people and the characters are relatable and fun. 4/5 stars.

The book was also turned into a TV show, which you can see on abc family. (Like Pretty Little Liars.) You can see more about the book on it's site here.
