In the world of Iolanthe Seabourne, elemental magic is growing rarer and Atlantis, an organization that pulls the strings of everything, is determined to rule unchecked. The only thing standing in their way is Iolanthe, who is prophesied to save her people and destroy the Bane, quite possibly the most powerful mage alive. Prince Titus, who's power is increasingly becoming in theory only, finds and agrees to help Iolanthe, prompting a run from Atlantis. The pair finds themselves at an all-boys boarding school, where Iolanthe must pretend to be a boy. How ever, Titus is under close watch from Atlantis, and as he begins to train Iolanthe in secret, there is constant danger of being caught.
The politics of the series were interesting to see, and Titus is doing his best to hold his throne. Iolanthe learning more about the big picture is also interesting.
The world of The Burning Sky is very interesting - it blends a more modern setting with things like magic carpets. Magic and science seem to more or less seem to work side by side. Iolanthe and Titus are interesting and thoughtful characters. The plot is well paced, and the book answers questions as soon as it gives you more. I love the idea of the series, and the book was very engaging - I couldn't put it down and I loved the action! This is an underrated fantasy book that everyone needs to read! 5/5 stars.
