Nightlife: Stronger Than Fear

What do you think is stronger than our basic emotions and instincts? This was brought up by the book I just finished, Panic. Fear, pain, love, anger - they're some of our strongest, most basic emotions that drive us to survive and live. why does torture consist of driving people to feel pain and fear? It reduces up to our basic instincts, and we'll do anything, give up any information, if it means we can survive. It's just a matter of time.
Wow, sorry. That was dark. I've been reading too much Alex Rider.
We don't like it, but it keeps us alive. We can learn to accept it. It's a part of us, and, as dark as it may sound, it helps us feel alive, and the rush, the thrill, can even be addictive. In time, we might be afriad of less - I think Divergent got it right: we can't be fearless, but can we get fear under control?
It makes me think about a song lyric -
"Raised by wolves,
stronger than fear.
If I open my eyes,
You disappear."
- U2, "Raised by Wolves"
But really - is there anything stronger than fear? Anything that would be stronger? True love, maybe - that's always the winner, right? I don't know.
