Poor Rosie has some guy issues. One one hand, she's totaly friendzoned her buddy Mason. On the other hand, the guy she does like, her trainer Dimitri, is off-limits. And even worse (well, for Rose) he seems to dare to enjoy someone else's company over hers. Not to mention the fact that Rose is experiencing a new and frustrating power: popping into Lissa's head.
After a distructive Strigoi attack, the academy is on a high alert and the place becomes packed with guardians. This includes the one the Rose wants to see least of all - her mother.
In order to keep the students out of harm's way, the annual ski trip n Idaho is mandatory. Staff figure that keeping the stuents away from the scholl will keep them much safer. But this may not be true, and indeed could even be a trap. Three students get the insane idea that they can fight a strigoi and run off. Rose and Lissa's boyfriend, Christian, who don't always see eye to eye, must work together to bring the idiots back safely.
Okay. Okay. So, I was hoping that after the world, characters, etc. was set up and explained in the first book that we would start some major character/plot development that, to be honest, the story needs. Badly. But yeah, we didn't really get it. I'm hoping that this is all going to lead up to something, but I don't know. A lot of the book seemed like filler.
We did meet a new character, a vampire named Adrian Ivashkov, a vamp bad(ish) boy who gives us some comic relief, and I hope he's a good addition to the story line.
