World War Z is a little different from some other books because it is written as a series of interviews with different people who survived the zombie war. There are acounts from both civilians and soldiers, people from all over the world and of different ages telling their stories. I haven't seen the movie, but from what I know, it's more like your standard blood 'n guts-explosions-shoot-the-zombies zombie movie and not much like the book. Shame.

The style can make it a little hard to understand at first, because it's almost like a collection of short stories. That just means that you have to read it a little more slowly than you usually do. I think it's a good way to write a book, and the stories kept me hooked! You get some great mental visuals and you also get a good idea of what the war must have been like. When things started to wrap up, I was ready for them to be over, but things finished up nicely and the ending was satisfying.

The book was thoughtful and even though we weren't with each character for very long we were able to get a good idea of their personality. However, because of the writing style and the number of characters, all the stories kind of blur together after a while. This would be a must-read for any sci-fi and zombie fan! 4/5
