Godspeed has more secrets than Amy and Ender could imagine. Phydus, the drug that was keeping the ship's passengers compliant and quiet is no longer being used, and now everyone knows that Eldest was using it. Revolts are breaking out, and supplies are running out. Food is running low, and the people of Godspeed are starting to have their own ideas about who should lead them. With Eldest dead, Elder is now in charge. Because he's just a boy, many people are unsure that he should be leading the entire ship, and Elder's rule isn't going unquestioned. The more he tries to keep the ship under control, them ore his hold slips, and order is crumbling. The ship is falling into chaos.
Amy has problems of her own. As people listen to Elder less and less, it also becomes more dangerous for Amy to roam the ship, and there are plenty who wish her harm. She longs to free her parents. Amy next starts finding clues left to her by Orion, the killer who, not so very long ago, was murdering helpless frozens on the ship. Orion has something important to tell her, and no matter how much Amy hates him, she needs to know what his message is. He's trying to tell her and Elder the ship's greatest secret. If the wrong people try to find out, it would be chaos. What they discover is very, very chilling. They're closer to the planet than they think, and what waits for them on it's surface could be deadly.
Amy and Elder are a cute couple, but Amy raised a good question: She doesn't want to be with Elder because he's her only option. If she had another choice, would she still love him the way she thought she did? It's an interesting question, and even though I ship them, it's true she should be with someone she loves for more than just because they ended up in the same place.
Elder is a kid trying to control a couple thousand people, and I feel sorry for how little control he has over them. He's trying his best, but he's not much good at politics. Something tells me he would be long dead if this was Game of Thrones. He's trying his best to protect Amy, who's an outcast in a place full of angry people. That never worked out to well for people like her in the past. She's ina really dangerous position. Considering the situation, they're both doing pretty well if yu ask me.
Once again, I loved the way Revis wrote the book. It's very suspensful with a ton of interesting plot twists I never saw coming, and Godspeed's secrets continue to amaze me. You can never really know who's who, and people often have their own agenda. The ending left me dying for the next book, and I can't wait to get my hands on it! There's only one more book to go in the trilogy - Shades of Earth. After everything I learned in A Million Suns, I can't wait! 4/5 stars.
