This is it. After centuries afloat in deep space, Godspeed's inhabitants are ready to land on Centauri-Earth and make their new home. However, upon reaching the strange new planet, Ender, Amy, and the others find themselves lost and unprepared for the planet's vicious life forms and unfamiliar plants. Now awake, the previously frozen military personnel take control, and Ender is afraid his people will become nothing more than slaves. Things take a turn for the worst when the group finds themselves under attack: Someone, or something, is already on the planet and wants the newcomers dead.

Being as sweet as she is, Amy has a hard time believing that her family doesn't care much about the people of Godspeed, or, as they're called, the "ship-born". On the other hand, Ender is jealous of Chris, a soldier, for spending so much time with Amy and wants to protect his people. Besides that, there wasn't much character development.

I have mixed feelings about Shades of Earth. On one hand, I enjoyed Revis's plot twists and the lingering, eerie sense of insecurity that the characters had as they were being watched and hunted on the planet. There was plenty of adventure and action! On the other hand, the ending was unexpected and interesting, but I wasn't quite happy with it. I didn't quite understand how Amy could accept it so easily, and that made me unhappy. All in all, I liked the story but wasn't quite satisfied. 3.9/5 stars.

Thanks for being patient with me! Reviews will be back to normal on Monday. :)
